Our story

Two worlds, one company.

Bytes & Acres Ltd is a Rwanda-based operating and investment company bringing together two strong, independent divisions: Acres, focused on agriculture, and Bytes, focused on technology.

Acres grows, sources and exports premium fresh produce, and is developing new opportunities in agricultural production and planting materials. Bytes develops practical digital solutions for businesses, organisations and the global market — it also focuses on using technology to solve problems the company faces in the agricultural line.

Each division has its own expertise, operations and commercial direction. Where useful, the two collaborate — but neither depends on the other to succeed.

Acres: Agriculture

Growing, sourcing and exporting quality produce.

Acres grows, sources and exports avocado, French beans, and green bird's eye chilli. Its operations cover production and grower sourcing, packhouse handling, quality control, required inspections, export documentation and shipment coordination.

The division is also planning two greenhouse nurseries in Musha, Rwamagana District, to produce and sell avocado, chilli and other high-value fruit and vegetable seedlings — serving commercial farmers, smallholders and cooperatives. This project is at the planning stage.

Bytes: Technology

Practical technology for real businesses.

Bytes develops digital solutions for businesses and organisations, with expertise in software, information security, IT governance and digital transformation.

Its first product, Export Dossier, is a digital platform for agricultural exporters. It brings together shipment costs, prices, quantities and required documents, helping users see shipment profitability, margins and return on investment through consolidated reports.

Export Dossier is currently being pilot-tested by a small group of companies based in Rwanda. Its present focus is agricultural exports, with potential for future application in other sectors.
